Country Director India, Innovation Norway and Commercial Counsellor Royal Norwegian Embassy (Norway)

Mr. Cristian Valdes Carter is the Director of Innovation Norway in India and the Commercial Counsellor at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi. Prior to assuming his current position in January 2021 he served as CEO of CCB Subsea.

Mr. Carter has held various leadership roles and board positions in both privately held companies and public-private partnerships, and comes with broad experience from the Norwegian industry. His career expands over several industries including Offshore Oil & Gas, Subsea, CCS, Port Developments, Fisheries and Tourism.

Mr. Carter holds a master’s degree in Law from the University of Bergen (2009) and an Executive Programme in Innovation & Transition Leadership from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH Executive) (2018). He has also completed the AFF Solstrand program for Young Leaders (2013).

Innovation Norway is owned by the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries and the Norwegian counties, and is the Norwegian government’s official trade representative abroad.
