Dr Bruno Lanvin

President, Descartes Institute for the Future (DIFF)

Dr Bruno Lanvin is the president of Descartes Institute for the Future, a global thinktank headquartered in Geneva (Switzerland). From 2018 to 2024, he was President of IMD’s Smart City Observatory. From 1979 to 2010, he held senior positions in the United Nations and at the World Bank, before joining INSEAD as Executive Director. His current main area of focus is on assessing and benchmarking the future readiness of national and local economies. He currently advises governments and private organizations around the world about geo-strategic developments, innovation, talent policies and implications of accelerated developments in areas such as  artificial intelligence (AI). Dr Lanvin’s most recent books include ‘The Future is Young’ and ‘Prosperous and Inclusive Cities’.
