Ms. Shobana Kamineni is a Promoter Director of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited and Executive Chairperson of Apollo Healthco Ltd.
She is widely recognized as the architect of India’s integrated healthcare revolution. As a transformative healthcare leader, she has founded and led the creation of multiple billion-dollar healthcare businesses, reshaping how care is delivered, accessed, and experienced by millions in one of the world’s largest, most complex and diverse healthcare markets in both online and offline spaces.
A pioneer in health-tech and systems integration, Shobana is deeply committed to democratizing healthcare through both physical and digital infrastructure, AI, and data-driven innovation. She founded and scaled Apollo Pharmacy, India’s largest retail pharmacy chain, with 7,000+ stores.
In her latest endeavour, she is driving digital transformation through Apollo 24/7 – India’s largest integrated digital healthcare platform with over 44 million registered users, delivering over 100,000 medicine orders daily and 500,000 doctor consultations & 150,000 diagnostic orders monthly across 19,000+ pincodes. Most recently, Apollo 24/7 pioneered quick medicine delivery in India.
As Promoter Director of Apollo Hospitals, Asia’s largest hospital chain, she has been instrumental in building one of the most trusted healthcare ecosystems in the region, touching over 200 million lives across 150 countries.
Notably, Shobana pioneered the establishment of a “Biobank,” recognized by the Time Magazine among the top 10 ideas of the decade in Life Sciences. She also founded once the fastest growing health insurance company in India, Apollo Munich Health Insurance (divested to HDFC ERGO).
Shobana’s leadership transcends industries and borders, driving global impact in public health and championing deep-rooted social causes. She made history as the first woman President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in over a century. Additionally, she holds roles at the World Economic Forum (WEF), advocating for India’s workforce preparation for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and digital inclusion in healthcare.
With a mission to translate compassion into action, she founded ‘Billion Hearts Beating,’ an NGO promoting heart disease prevention in India.
A keen sportsperson, she has played national-level squash, enjoys long-distance cycling, and adventure sports.
