Fazil is the Senior Vice President in TAQA’s Group Strategy function, heading the Group’s energy transition and ESG agenda across 30 countries of TAQA’s presence. He has close to two decades of experience in the domains of energy transition, portfolio management, business strategy, climate change, and sustainability. His key proficiency is in integrating sustainability towards achieving value creation, performance improvement, and cost optimization. Fazil has led some of Middle East’s iconic and first of its kind projects when it comes to energy strategy, capital optimisation, decarbonisation, ESG strategy, sustainable finance, resilience planning, process optimization and carbon markets for leading governments, asset managers, and corporates.
Fazil holds an M.Sc. in Electrical Power Engineering from Masdar Institute in collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA). He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and a Certified Measuring and Verification Professional (CMVP). He is one of the first International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) scholars and was awarded ‘Young Future Energy Leader (YFEL)’ by Masdar. Fazil introduced the concept of ‘Demand Response Mismatch’ to the research world, which is published in the IEEE Journal of Smart grids.
