Mr. Prem Sagar Gupta, Principal Chief Engineer, Northern Railway, is a distinguished railway civil engineer with over 33 years of rich and diverse experience in Indian Railways, marked by his stewardship of several critical and high-responsibility assignments. Over the course of his career, he has held key leadership positions at the highest levels, including Principal Chief Engineer (Civil Engineering/Planning), Railway Board; Executive Director (Corporate Coordination), Railway Board; and Advisor to the Central Vigilance Commission, demonstrating exceptional leadership across engineering, policy, and governance domains. 
 
A Gold Medallist in Civil Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering, Mr. Gupta went on to earn his Master of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, graduating first in his program, and further enriched his strategic leadership perspective through an M.Phil. from the prestigious National Defence College, New Delhi. 
 
As Chief Engineer (Design) on the Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) Project, Mr. Gupta played a pivotal role in resolving long-standing design and structural stability challenges through innovative engineering solutions. Over his more than seven-year tenure, he provided decisive technical leadership that helped steer the project toward successful execution. He was also closely associated with the engineering and design of the iconic Chenab Bridge, one of the world’s highest railway bridges, along with several other strategically critical structures along the USBRL corridor, leaving a lasting imprint on one of India’s most ambitious infrastructure achievements. 

Mr. Gupta takes particular pride in his significant contribution to realizing the long-envisioned rail connectivity between the Kashmir Valley and the rest of India, a transformative milestone in the country’s infrastructure history and a testament to engineering excellence at the highest level.
