Nitin Gupta

Nitin Gupta is the CEO and Co-founder of Attero, India’s largest e-waste recycling, and the world’s most advanced Li – ion battery recycling company. He is regarded as a visionary who has played a key role in bringing cleantech to India. His global market understanding makes him an undisputed leader in the space.
Nitin is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, with a strong foundation in Engineering. He further went on to the prestigious NYU (Stern Business School), and London Business School to study business & marketing.
Nitin has held various leadership positions at Lotus Interworks in the USA and has extensive experience in the world of technology start-ups. Following the mantra of ‘it’s not waste until it’s wasted’ and with a strong desire to make a notable change in the cleantech space, Nitin co-founded Attero in 2008, the only company in the world to get carbon credits for recycling e-waste and Li-ion waste.
With a capacity of over 175,000 MT for e-waste recycling and 15000 MT for Li-ion battery recycling, Attero has been granted 46 patents and has applied for more than

Under his leadership, Attero in the last 16 years has raised a total of $30 million in funding over four rounds from institutional backers such as Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Granite Hill India Opportunity Ventures, Kalaari Capital, and International Finance Corporation, which is the private investment arm of the World Bank. As a technology enthusiast, he also introduced disruptive technologies in India which were recognized by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and UNFCCC.
Nitin has been working closely with premier institutions like Niti Aayog to establish a strong foundation for India’s e-waste and Li-ion recycling industry. Attero has also received appreciation from the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, during the 97th episode of ‘Mann ki Baat’. The company has recently ventured into the D2C space with the launch of Selsmart – an integrated e-waste Consumer Take-Back platform.
Nitin’s responsibilities revolve around envisioning organizational goals and creating plans & strategies that will help the company achieve the set goals. Nitin follows a collaborative and entrepreneurial approach to business and the workplace, which is instrumental in the growth of the brand. He intends to establish Attero as the largest urban mining company in the world.
