Neil Harbisson

Neil Harbisson
Neil Harbisson is a cyborg artist, futurist and cultural thinker internationally recognised for his pioneering work at the intersection of technology, the human body and human identity. He is known for becoming the world’s first person to be officially recognised as a cyborg by a government, after integrating an antenna into his skull that enables him to perceive colour through sound.
Neil’s work goes beyond personal augmentation to explore how emerging technologies are reshaping human perception, communication and evolution. He is the co-founder of the Cyborg Foundation, an organisation dedicated to promoting ethical human–technology integration, freedom of self-design and new forms of sensory experience.
Through his projects, public talks and collaborations, Neil challenges conventional ideas of what it means to be human in an era of rapid technological disruption. His ideas and work have been shared globally through major media outlets, academic institutions and international forums, contributing to high-level conversations on innovation, identity and the future of humanity.
