Rajeev Chandrasekhar
Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India
We take immense pride in having Union Minister Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar ji with us today, who passionately believes in the potential of young Indians – their capabilities, hard work, talent, and vision. He envisions that it is the youth of India who will propel us towards the realization of a developed nation, a ‘Viksit Bharat,’ in the coming years. His unwavering focus is on translating our Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Digital India into reality by expanding and deepening India’s Tech and Innovation Economy – building a robust ecosystem for electronics manufacturing in India, involving startups, academic institutes, skilling initiatives, researchers, and major industry players. This collaborative effort aims to realize the ambitious goal of establishing a $300 billion electronics manufacturing ecosystem in India.
To achieve these goals, Minister Chandrasekhar is at the forefront of several key initiatives, including the semiconductor mission for India, electronics system design and manufacturing, deep tech investment promotion, Startup India, and technology policy development. With a background deeply rooted in technology, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, a three-time parliamentarian, has devoted over 30 years to the tech industry. He served as a chip designer and founded a startup during a time when startups were not yet widespread in India. One of his notable achievements was setting up one of India’s earliest mobile cellular networks – BPL Mobile, which he successfully exited to Hutchinson (now Vodafone) in 2005.
